An opinion of the english subject

Well, this “blogging experience” is Within the framework of the english subject in this university and I’m going to say wath I think about it. Well, about this, I think that, nowadays, English it is very important in the world, in the science, in my discipline and in my career. Many articles and researchs are written in english, so it’s necessary to speak and read in english. Many of the theoretical development in socioly is written in english, also important researchings about matters like poverty, education and work.
About the subject in the university of Chile, I think that it is a very good program, but it has some problems and I have some ideas to resolve them. We learnt a lot of english abbilities, but the principal problem is that people ignore specialised  sociologic lenguaje. First of all, I think that the contents in the subject aren’t related to my career, and that is problematic to my training in sociology. When I read some things in english, I don’t understand a lots specialised words. Second, I think that the blogs and the videos are very good to learnt english, but I think that instead of a way of work that demand a lot of work like weekly blogs, we can do only one attempt of a subject that remains to our careers, with an hypothesis and a research about the matter. Then, maybe, we  can argue about this attempts, developing our oral capacities. And finaly, I think tha we can publish something as a team. In this way we will be learning specialised english lenguge and producing useful knowlegde at the same time.

Well, that is my opinion and my proposal to the signature. Bye!

Balance of my university time

Hi everyone!
This year is ending so I´m going to do a balance about it. Besides, this is my last year at the university (I hope so), so, it’s time to put the things in perspective. Well, I think that in this years I learned a lot, and I’m very diferent of the girl that i once was. First of all, the university make me be a organized and rigorous person. I have learnt important things and I feel qualified  to the “adult world”. Besides, I feel stronger than yesterday, because in 2012 mi sister die in a car accident, and I was able to confront that situation and go on with my life. I think that all my achievements are dedicated to my sister.
In this sense, I think that I  reach all my achievements this years, because I return to the university and I join in all my obligations as student. I think that one of the achievemnets that I didnt reach was be more rigorous and responsable with my university issues.  Nevertheless, I don't judge me too much, because I know that I lived something very difficult.Anyway I hope to get over this problems and resume my university issues in a responsable way, the next year. This because the next year it’s my thesis, and the issue to address it's somethin that interest me a lot: the teachers an politics inchile . Besides, its a new subject, so I need to do a very good job about it

Well, this is my balance of this year, thank you for Reading me J

The end of gender stereotypes in our society

Hello! today I’m going to talk you about the gender in modern society, and I’ll start with a speech of Johanna Blakley called Social media and the end of gender. Well, the speech is about the link between social medias en the end of gender stereotypes. About this she say that the social medias allow to demolish this gender stereotyoes. First of all, she talk about the mass media and how they use rigid stereotypes,  further in demographic categories like age and gender, wich provides us of a “distorted mirrows” about them.  This demographics are methods of segmentation called psychographics and allow them to understand their audience tastes. In this sense this stereotypes belong to people of 19 to 54 years old. The funny thing is that this stereotypes can´t be applied to social media, because, despite the people in the internet have this age, it doesn´t exist a link between demographics and taste.  This means that taste is a powerful aggregatorof human beings more tan demographics. The important thing is that woman dominate the social networks. And for Johanna this means that woman will demolish all the empty gender stereotypes, like chick flick.

Well, I agree with Johanna about their argue, but I think that the end of the gender stereotypes can be seen in other dimensions of social life. For example, we can see this in chilean politic, specifically in the female liadership in the FECh –Melisa, a feminist- and in the government –with Michelle bachellet and Evelyn Matthei as opponents-. Despite that, I think that to end the gender stereotypes is necessary a change in the sexist culture of our country and of the world. If we didnt change our culture, the same offences and inequalities to woman will be continue.

The importance of organization to resolve environmental issues

Hello everyone, today I’m going to talk you about what I think about the environmental issues. First of all, I think that the environmental problems must be understanding like an important dimensión of a bigger problem: a capitalist society wich favor the business owners problems over the public problems. I think that environmental issues are a sign of this kind of economy and if we want to resolve this issues we have to change the economy of our nation. This new economy must privilege the social matters making Chile a fair and equal country.
There are several examples of this: Pascua lama, is a miner proyect, wich destroy the evironment of this area, afecting the traditional way of linving of the aymaras. The miners are a good example of these because they always destroy the environment in order to increased the profit of they owners.
However, in the mean while we can contribute to resolve environmental issues to improvement our life quality. For example, we can educate our child in a sustainable way to living. Besides, we can inform us about the environmental issues, because this fact allow us to confront the business owners interests. In this sense, all our disagreement must be directed to organization, because only in this way we cant deal with the interests of powerful people wich are not interested in public matters.

Summary of ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION: THE MERIT AND THE (RE) PRODUCTION OF THE INEQUALITY, by OPECH and CESCC

Hello everybody, today im going to talk you about an important article about an investigation of the educational system in Chile, called: ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION: THE MERIT AND THE (RE) PRODUCTION OF THE INEQUALITY, by OPECH and CESCC. First of all the article talk about how the enrollment in Chile has increased in the last decades. The problema is that this enrollment implies privatization of education, initiated into dictatorship and consolidated in the governments of the concerted of democracy parties. This caused a great inequity between persons who have enough Money to invest in education and who haven't. This happens in school and in the university. From the above is to be attempt to address this problem by attempting to question the meritocratic ideology.

For this attempt, they review some authors addressing the issue of education. The dominant theory in modern society is the liberal paradigm of equality of opportunity to compete that supports meritocracy. Meritocracy is defined by the authors as “a set of interconnected ideas that manages to successfully permeate cultural practices of individuals”. Authors think that in Chile meritocracy is reinforced with the objective of maintaining the social structure. This situation is found in the Chilean higher education system because there are structural barriers in college access  such as the University Selection Test (PSU ), high tariffs, senior high schools and the universities segmentation.

The authors conclude that it is necessary to move towards a system fair university Access without the meriticracy. What should happen is that the ability to access knowledge on different disciplines across the university are available to everyone . For this object, this study should be available to everyone, as this proposal for a new university will be built collectively. It is important for this object to ask about the kind of Education that we have and their role in society.

Happyness and psycology

Hello everybody, I will talk you about a phycologist who study the happiness: Dan Gilbert. He made a presentation about a cientific study of this topic called “The surprising science of happiness”. The presentation start with a speech about the frontal lobe, and his function wich is to be a experience simulator. Then, he make a game with the spectators, consisting in show to them two pictures about the future, a good one and a bad one. This game demonstrates the tendency that this simulator have to malfunction. He concludes then that happyness can be synthesized. This is a psycological defense system. Then he shows examples about people that despite having bad luck is happy.
He says that there are two different kinds of happyness, in his own words: “Natural happiness is what we get when we get what we wanted, and synthetic happiness is what we make when we don’t get what we wanted. In our society, we have a strong belief that synthetic happiness is of an inferior kind.”  Then he explain an experiment calling free choise. He repites the experiment with people who had lose them memory, and the results are the same. This means that the free choise is the enemy of the synthetic happiness.  Besides, he made an experiment at Harvard university wich a photography class, demostrating his hypotesis.
After this he concludes that the elections are pretentious
and we have the capacity in our brains to be happy.

I think that despite being a scientific conclusion, i’m not agree, because happiness is not only a psychological process. In this sense, the individual is determined by situations that surpass him as a subject, so that happiness is personal and social at the same time. This is why we should all make us part of our society and actively participate in its evolution.

Brazil, a country that I would like to visit

I would really like to go to Brazil for many reasons, principally because I admire the story and culture of this country.  First of all, I really like the brazilian music, wich has an african influence. I like Chico Buarque a lot, so the lambada and bossanova. Second, Im also very interested in the history of this country, because Brazil have a very powerfull union (the brazilian CUT). Third, I know that the people of this country is very happy, and I can see that in their dances, their music, even in their tv series. About this tv series, I watched “el color del pecado”, and  “tierra esperanza”, and I think that they are very entreteined.
Besides, sociology has a strengt development in Brazil. For example, cardosso is a very important sociologist, who develop the “dependence theory” with Faletto (chilean sociologist). That is why I would really like to do my master in this country. Hopefully, in the future I will go there to study something related to latinoamerican history.

Finally, this is a song of chico buarque, wich likes me a lot J

Mi ideal job will be to be a teacher of a school, that practice popular education, because my politic work is very important to me, and I think that popular education is a way to transform the society in a positive way. Popular education let people communicate their oppression, facing  injustices. Its principles are the communication, love, and respect to each other.
This is a job very dificult to find, because the principles behind the official school are contrarios to the principles of popular education. At schools, generally, people learn all memory in a non-critical way. This is the way to teach for the goverment, a non critical knowlege.
By the other hand, this job requires a politic knowlege, and metodologies. Also requires  patience and dedication, because is difficult teach without hierarchies.
I really like to have a job like this, but I know that is very difficult. However, I think that is possible to work in popular education in my free time. Hopefully, I will deal with both things: my job and my political interest.
